NMCA WEST RACERS TACKLE QUARER-MILE AT SPEEDWORLD DRAGSTRIP!
The NMCA Flowmaster WEST Street Car Series returns for its third event at Speed World Dragstrip in Phoenix, Arizona. The Centerforce NMCA WEST Street Car Nationals will run September 21-23 at the Northwest Phoenix facility.

The race at SpeedWorld is the third of four at which NMCA WEST racers can earn championship points. Racers in 10 classes, including the six-second 240 mph Garrett Turbo Pro Street cars, will vie for a prized Wally trophy, named for NHRA founder Wally Parks.
Off the track, there will be plenty of activity to keep the most ardent race fan occupied. NMCA WEST will host a giant car show where 50 prizes will be given out each day. And because SpeedWorld Dragstrip is in the backyard of many of the top performance parts companies, including Centerforce, Airaid, AMP, Baer Brake Systems and Hughes Performance, the manufacturers midway is sure to be chalk full of experts on hand to answer questions and sell the right product for the job. For those looking for that one-of-a-kind or hard-to-find part for their cars a swap meet is scheduled as well. Finally, anyone looking to get in a little time behind the wheel can enter NMCA WEST’s famous Burnout Contest. Spectators can sign up to participate and walk away with prizes and all-important bragging rights.
SpeedWorld Dragstrip opened in 1996 and is part of the multi-use facility known as SpeedWorld Raceway Park. An NHRA Member Track, SpeedWorld Dragstrip is open all year long and offers its local racers and race fans several racing programs from the E.T. bracket series and Jr. Drag Racing to the always popular Street Legal program. NMCA WEST racers will close out the season Oct. 26-28 in Bakersfield, California. Auto Club Famoso Raceway will host the Nitto Tire NMCA WEST World Finals where the top points earning drivers will be crowned world champions.
I want to race – how do I do it?
One of the staples of any NMCA event is the True Street class, designed for real, tagged and insured street-going vehicles that can make a 30-mile cruise along with three back-to-back-to-back passes for the ultimate torture test of a street car. The True Street class has been a huge hit at the NMCA events on the East Coast, and the expectation is that the attention-starved West Coast players will turn out in force. True Street gives out an award for the competitor closest to each full-second increment from 15-seconds on down, along with a runner-up award. The winner, or “King” of the event, receives a six-foot-tall trophy, a cape, and crown to go along with the media exposure an NMCA True Street win provides.
