Centerforce Racers Dominate the USCA's Pikes Peak International Raceway Event
Optima Batteries kicked off its 5th Search for the Ultimate Street Car event at the Pikes Peak International Raceway in Fountain, Colorado
There were many Centerforce equipped vehicles on hand which made for a great event and lots of exciting driving. Congratulations to all the Centerforce equipped drivers who had a successful weekend including Jordan Priestley who finished first in the GT class in his 2016 Chevrolet Camaro SS, Ken Thwaits who finished second in the GTL class in his 2007 Mitsubishi Evo, David Carroll finished third in the GTL class in his 1975 Datsun 570z. In the GTV class James Shipka finished second in his 1967 "One Lap" Camaro after nearly a year off, and Jane Thurmond took fourth overall.
Jordan Priestley of JDP Motorsports has been a loyal Centerforce customer and jumped at the chance to use our 2016 Camaro DYAD DS Twin Disc clutch prototype. Our new DYAD DS Twin Disc is 16 pounds lighter than stock, and is the ultimate performance clutch for a high horse-power mustang. Jordan installed his new clutch and put it to work right away, winning the GT class. Jordan has already secured his invite to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational in Las Vegas.
Longtime Centerforce driver, James Shipka has been running the Centerforce DYAD in his "One Lap Camaro" for 4 years now. Last year the engine blew up in his Camaro. After a full rebuild, James swapped his 4 year old clutch into the new set up and was ready for for the track. It had been exactly 236 days since James and his Camaro have seen any action. In James first race back in almost a year, he finished second in the GTV Class! This win got James his invitation to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational in Las Vegas!
Seasoned autocross driver David Carroll ran into some clutch issues (worn disc) and was in need of an immediate fix. Will Baty and the Centerforce team came in clutch by pulling the clutch out of the Centerforce Camaro and overnighted it to David. David and company made quick work and changed the disc on the track and ended up finishing with an impressive third place finish in the GTL class. This win at Pikes Peak punched David's ticket to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitation in Las Vegas!
